His statement regarding the chapter on voluntary prayers is the best of voluntary prayers and of istikharah on the authority of Jabir bin Abdullah, who said: “The Messenger of God (may God’s prayers and peace be upon him) used to teach us istikharah just as he taught us a surah from the Qur’an. He said: If one of you is concerned about a matter, let him perform two rak’ahs other than the obligatory prayer and say: O God, I seek advice from you with your knowledge, and I seek guidance from you with your ability, and I ask you from your great bounty...” (Image: 024)
