In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful, and may God’s blessings be upon Muhammad and his family, O Lord, help and make easy, O Generous One. The Book of Punishments. The basic principle regarding punishment is the Qur’an, the Sunnah, and consensus. The Book is the words of God Almighty: “Then the adulterer and the adulterer, flog each one of them with a hundred lashes.” And the Almighty’s statement: “And the thief and the woman....”
