Dual literacy in classical Arabic and Mandinka Ajami is necessary to understand the contents of many of the documents in this collection. Custodial history: The owner inherited some of the documents from his father, El-hadji Seckou Diafoune. His father was born in Guinea Bissau where he spent most of his life until his death.
