Notes Transliterated title: Old Copy of Banāt Su‛ād with Glosses. The manuscript is a copy of an ancient Arabic poem by Ka'b bin Zuhair, a famous Arab poet, who initially was one of the fiercest critics of Prophet Muḥammad. His criticisms had put him in grave danger of losing his life. He finally repented and asked for forgiveness to Prophet Muhammad who forgave him. The poem is wriitten in Arabic, with glosses in Arabic, Mandinka, and Soninke Ajami. Custodial history: The owner inherited it from his father, El- hadji Kemo Solly. Extent and format of original material: 95 pages. Physical characteristics: Unbound manuscript with a cardboard cover. Chipped and torn edges, faded text, water damage, and stains make some text difficult to read. Owner(s) of original material: Cheikh Moustapha Solly. Author(s) of original material: Ka'b bin Zuhair.
