The volume contains letters written in Arabic by rulers in areas surrounding the colony of Sierra Leone and addressed to the governor. It also includes the English translation of the correspondence by M. Sanusi and J. C. E. Parkes. They discuss issues related to wars and conflicts that were sometimes preventing trade.
