Notes (Just as you suppressed those before them) of the disbelievers of past nations who were hostile to the Messengers, peace be upon them. (And We have sent down clear verses) indicating the truth of the Messenger, peace be upon him, and what he brought. (And for the disbelievers is a humiliating punishment.) Their pride and arrogance will be taken away. (On the day God resurrects them) is in the accusative case of “remember” all of them, that is, all of them. Then He will inform them of what they have done, of the abominable things they have done, in the presence of witnesses, and as a disgrace to them, and as a disgrace to their condition. (God has counted it) in countless numbers. Something of it is missing (and they forgot it) because of its abundance (and God is Witness over all things) and nothing is overlooked....And His saying: (He recites to you clear verses of God) is an adjective for a Messenger, and God’s verses are the Qur’an, and clarifications of a state of them, meaning that they are clarifications to you of what you need of rulings, and clarifications of narrations, meaning that God Almighty has made them clear due to His Almighty’s saying: (We have made clear to you the signs), and the lam in His Almighty’s saying (so that those who believe and act) may emerge. The good deeds) are related to “repeated” and “revealed,” and the subject refers to the first one as the conscience of the Messenger, peace and blessings be upon him, or the pronoun of majesty, and the connective refers to the believers after it was revealed, that is: for the Messenger or God Almighty to make for them what they are now in of faith and good deeds or to emerge from knowledge or destiny that he will believe (from darkness to light) from misguidance to guidance (and whoever believes in God).
