Notes ...The third article is about knowing the dimensions. What is meant is to know the distances of the planets from the center of the world by one amount. That amount can be known by the standards by which people are accustomed to measure things, such as the radius of the Earth whose amount is known in parsecs, miles, cubits, filaments, filaments, and bodies. What is meant is to know their estimation with a single body to which they are attributed to the Earth. The discussions of this chapter are very far from being accepted by the public. Therefore, you see that if they heard that the distance between the planets and the Earth is such and such a league, and that the magnitude of a corpuscle is such and such, they would wave. They raised their heads and said: This is nothing but a fabricated lie, due to their lack of knowledge of the rules of geometry and spectacles and their belief that this estimation cannot be achieved except by ascension and proximity to those bodies and their area with the hands as in the things that we have. The first is the feminization of the pronoun. An introduction and six chapters. The introduction is about what needs to be presented before embarking on the objectives, which are ten issues. The first issue is what Archimedes explained in the second form of his article on breaking the circle, which is that the circumference of each circle is three times its diameter and approximately one-seventh of its diameter, because his statement is like this: the circumference of a circle is longer than three times its diameter by less than one-seventh of the diameter and more than ten parts of seventy-one parts of the diameter, meaning a ratio of twenty-two to seven....And I have provided tables regarding the area of the Earth and its circumference and the dimensions of the spheres and planets. Its radii, the thickness of its orbits, and the amounts of the bodies of the planets on the Earth and its parsecs, to make it easy for the observer, quoted from the scale of the sky, and if there is a discrepancy in it, then rely on what is in the table, because in the text there is some tolerance, as we have told you, and these tables are a table for knowing the amounts of the Earth and the area of its surface in parsecs... And when the speech has reached, with the grace of God, the All-Knowing King, this point of explaining this book, the like of which has not been permitted in days, as an insight for those who contemplate the kingdom. The heavens and the earths, and a reminder to those who contemplate the wondrous works of the Lord of the Worlds, and a treasure for me for the Day of Judgment, and a means to the satisfaction of the Most Merciful of the Merciful. It is time for me to conclude the speech by praising God, the Possessor of bounties, and praying to His Messenger, the Best of people, so that its conclusion may be a blessing...
