The first thing with which I open the speech, and with which I begin the book, is praise to the One who causes causes and the inspirer of what is right, for his apparent blessings, and his demonstrating hands, praise that requires the recurrence of his blessings and requires more of his grace and generosity, and blessings be upon the Prophet, who is distinguished by concise words and miraculous clarification, and upon his righteous family and good companions. And then: Medicine is one of the most precious and greatest sciences in terms of honor that almost comes close in honor to the knowledge of God Almighty and His attributes. That honor is its subject and the virtue of its goal, through which man is able to display human virtues and attain psychological perfections, and through it the interests of the servants are regulated in life and in the hereafter, and through legislation, he stands on the traces of God’s mercy and power, the secrets of His providence, the precision of His workmanship, and the gentleness of His wisdom. To solve the universal laws of the medical industry, including the core of what is in the lengthy books of noble benefits, pleasant jokes, beneficial issues, and essential principles that are comprehensive in the briefest and clearest expression, avoiding redundancy, distinguishing the wheat from the pith, in order to make it easier for students and to obtain the reward and reward... What are the days of sickness and warning? It increases on the seventh, fourteenth, and twenty, and is moderate on the fifth, ninth, and eleventh, and it hardly occurs on the rest of the days except on the sixth and eighth, and if it occurs on them, it is bad for the most part. As for the days that portend days, the fourth is a portent of what will happen on the seventh, sixth, and eighth. If good, then good, and if evil, then evil. The seventh also portends what will happen on the fourteenth, and the fourteenth of what will happen on the twentieth. The reason for the change mentioned in the days mentioned is taken from the conditions of the moon, its movement, and its proportion. Its distance from the sun is what astrologers call opposite and square, and praise be to God alone...
