Notes
...He sleeps poorly and has no patience for sexual intercourse, which causes great harm. If there is more cold in him than dryness, he will be dull in color, and if there is more dryness than cold in him, he will be of a dusty color, and God knows best. Fifth temperament: moderate, which is the one whose natures are balanced in the balance of nature at the time of temperament, and the sign of its possessor is that he is pure in understanding and moderate in his organs in all of his creation. We mediate the states in all his affairs... A chapter on knowing the food that acts in man. Know that food is the strength of the body and the stability of the soul in the body, and from it is the health of the body and its corruption. This chapter is important and useful and no rational person can hardly do without knowing it. This is because if food is digested and disposed of in all the digestive machines, nature becomes alert and calls for food, and that is hunger. What is known…....the fourth characteristic to eliminate all dark ailments: Take reduced ghee and honey with no foam in equal parts and put them on the fire until it is hot, then they are milked with cow’s milk and everyone drinks it all from under the udder. This is used for three days or seven days and he avoids everything other than that. If the ailment is cured or goes away, otherwise he should drink the black purgative, which is two dirhams of crushed sunda and five dirhams of black cardamom after grinding it finely and removing the kernels. Mix all of them and lick them. With honey on an empty stomach...and if the illness is severe and chronic, such as leprosy, then let the diarrhea return once a week or once or twice a month according to the person’s strength or weakness, for it is beneficial, true and proven, and God knows best.
