Praise be to God, Lord of the worlds, first and last, apparent and hidden, the number of His creation, the ink of His words, the weight of His Throne, the satisfaction of Himself, the number of every thicket and odd, and wet and dry in a clear book, and all that our Lord created, atomized, and acquitted, Creator without everlasting example, eternal, good, and blessed, who created and settled, and destined, and guided, and caused death and brought to life, and made me laugh and cry, and bring near and near, and have mercy. And he was disgraced, fed and given drink, made happy and miserable, prevented and gave, by whose word the seven strong ones were established, and by which the pillars and stakes were fixed and the earth was settled, so there is no despairing of His mercy, nor safe from His plotting, jealousy, and the implementation of His decrees, actions, and commands, nor abstaining from worshiping Him, nor deprived of His grace, for He is to be praised for what He has given, and to be thanked for what has been tempted, then blessings be upon His Chosen Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace. May God bless him and grant him peace. Whoever follows what he brought will be guided, and whoever turns away from it will go astray and backslide....And his son Abdul-Jabbar asked him: What hurts you about your body? He said: All my organs hurt except my heart, which has no pain, and it is right with God Almighty. Then death came to him and he used to say: I seek help, there is no god but God, Glory be to Him, the Living, who does not die and does not fear death. Glory be to Him who is strengthened with power and conquers His servants with death. There is no god but God, Muhammad is the Messenger of God, God is God. Then his noble soul, may God be pleased with him, departed. The Sheikh, the creator of this book, died in the month of Rabi’ al-Akhir in the year five hundred and sixty-one in the city of peace. Baghdad, may God pardon its writer without retaliation...
