Gasprinski (or Gaspririnsky) was a leading Crimean Tatar intellectual, educator, publisher, and politician. He was one of the first Muslim intellectuals in the Russian Empire, who realized the need for education and cultural reform, and modernization of the Turkic and Islamic com- munities.
