The author of this work, Abd al-Ghani ibn Ismail al-Nabulsi (1641-1731), is considered one of the most influential and prolific Syrian writers of his time. He followed the approach of the Sufi systems of both the Naqshbandi and Qadiriyya, and he authored a huge number of works in the fields of Sufism, theology, and poetry. He traveled extensively throughout the Islamic world and recorded his adventures in his novels that deal with his own Sufi experience and the intellectual circles of the Islamic centers of the eighteenth century. This manuscript contains a copy of Al-Nabulsi's study on agriculture, which serves as an abridged version of Jami' Fara'id Al-Mallah fi Jami' Fawa'id Al-Falahah by the Syrian author Radhi al-Din al-Ghazi al-Amiri (died 1529). The study's ten chapters, the titles of which are written in red ink in this manuscript, deal with different types of land, methods for irrigating them, planting trees, the care needed to keep them thriving, methods of grafting, as well as other useful tips for growing plants and trees and ensuring their productivity.
