Sample Text	The Book of Inlay in the Science of Meanings, Bayan and Badi' is an introductory book in Arabic rhetoric. The author, Abd al-Qadir bin Muhammad Salim al-Kilani al-Iskandarani, says about it that it is 'brief and useful and makes it easy for them (i.e. the students) to know its rules.' He succeeded in this to a large extent. The Book of Inlay was printed at the government printing press in Damascus in 1922, most likely to be taught in schools, but there is no evidence that it was part of the official curriculum. The note on the title page says that the book was distributed 'For the Love of the Messenger of God', which may indicate that the author financed the printing of the book himself. Al-Kilani addresses the science of rhetoric in terms of its traditional sections, which are meanings, statement, and badi’. Al-Kilani states in the introduction that the goal of communication is eloquence, that is, the integrity of speech free from weak composition, dissonance of words, and complexity.
