| Sample Text | This manuscript contains an anonymous treatise on astronomy that was most likely prepared during the eighteenth or early nineteenth century. The only date in the manuscript is 1232 AH (1816 AD), which is written on the last page of text (folio 65, verso), along with a list of book titles and a short note that appears to have been crossed out. The year 1816 is therefore the latest possible date for the manuscript's release. The note appears to have been written in a different, less elegant handwriting and most likely some time after the main text was written. The work is titled Explanation on the Anatomy of the Spheres by Al-Amili and is based on studies on astronomy by Bahauddin Al-Amili, an encyclopedic author who was born in Lebanon in the sixteenth century and spent his life in Safavid Iran. Al-Amili was a distinguished philosopher and theologian, and is considered one of the first astronomers to consider the possibility of the Earth's local rotation. Al-Amili expressed this idea and other innovative ideas that he came up with, far from Western traditions, in his book Tashrish Al-Aflak, which is the subject of the extensive explanation in this manuscript that is in our hands.
