Sample Text	This pen-and-ink manuscript map contains numerous annotations in George Washington's handwriting. There is a note on the back in Washington's handwriting: 'A map of the lands around Redstone and Fort Pitt, given to me by Commander Crawford.' Washington's annotations to the map give place names, boundaries of large tracts of land, and the initials of their owners. The map covers the headwaters of the Ohio River in Pennsylvania and West Virginia. The map's designer and design date are unknown, but the map appears to have been drawn between 1758 and 1771. The annotations date back to 1780, during the Revolutionary War, when Washington was commander of the Continental Army. Fort Pitt was constructed by the British in 1759-1961 during the French and Indian War.
