Sample Text This map was drawn by Fujita Junsai and published by Harimaya Katsuguro in 1854, during the period when the Okogawa shogunate began sending expeditions to the Izu, Sakhalin, and Kuril Druze region. Russia was also showing interest in this region at that time. Place names appear to be specific and indicated in Japanese katakana characters (corner syllables). Land and sea routes in the Izu region (now Hokkaido) are shown in detail.
