| Sample Text | The manuscript written by Badr al-Din Muhammad ibn Muhammad ibn Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn al-Ghazal (1423–1506) contains an explanation and summary of the astronomical study on calculating the motion of the stars and planets entitled Revealing the Facts in Calculating the Decades and Minutes, which was written by the Egyptian astronomer and mathematician Ahmed ibn Rajab, known as Ibn al-Majdi (1366–1447). Ibn al-Majdi was a student of the famous scholar Abdullah al-Maridini (or al-Mardini), and he was the grandfather of the author of this work, who earned his nickname, Sib al-Maridini, after his famous maternal grandfather. The tribe of al-Maridini means 'son of the daughter of al-Maridini.' The tribe of al-Maridini presented a huge number of works on many topics while working as a timer at Al-Azhar Mosque in Cairo. These works included topics on the use of astronomical tools, arithmetic, and algebra, as well as the division of inheritances. |
