Text with vocalization and orthoepic signs. Golden or rubric dots separate the verses, but often this indication is missing. Irregularly, the rubricated letter ʾ ayn (at the beginning of the volume) or the word ʾ ašr (at the end) indicate groups of ten verses. At the head of each sura, up to S. LXXVIII, appear its title and the number of its verses, in gold or blue ink. The beginning of the text is placed inside a linear gilded frame, but the illumination has not been completed (ff° 1 v° and 2 r°). The indications of sağda (in blue), those of ğuz ʾ (in red and blue) and ḥizb (in red or in ink) are placed in the margin. Western paper, with watermark in the shape of an anchor inscribed in a circle surmounted by a cruciform motif with the initials AP (cf. Mošin (V.), Anchor Watermarks, Amsterdam, 1973 (Monumenta Chartae Papyraceae Historiam illustrantia, XIII), no. 2440) and IC (cf. Mošin (V.), Anchor Watermarks, Amsterdam, 1973 (Monumenta Chartae Papyraceae Historiam illustrantia, XIII), n° 2481 and 2482). 304 fol. (303, plus f° 130 bis). 299 × 182mm. 13 lines per page (except in ff° 1 v° and 2 r°: 5 l.). Black ink. Writing surface: 180 × 102 mm. Advertisements. Quinions. Oriental binding with flap, sheepskin; central plate in the shape of a polylobed mandorla (75 × 56 mm; doubly symmetrical cloud decoration, cf. NSd, fig. 7) and cold-stamped fillets on both boards. On the cover, axial fleuron decorated with clouds.. A) Ff° 1 v° to 301 v°: Koran; the S. I is repeated at the end; B) Ff° 302-303: prayer to recite after having finished reading the Koran; Türkiye Copy completed in ?aʿbān 1001/May 1593 (f° 301 v°). Imprint of the stamp of Muṣṭafā b. ʿAlī. The volume may have belonged to L. Picques. Notes "by the hand of Mr. l'Abbé de Longuerue" (1652-1733; cf. f° 119 v° and L. Delisle (Léopold), Le Cabinet des manuscripts de la Bibliothèque imperiale (national), study on the formation of this deposit..., Paris, 1868-1881, 4 vol, II, p. 246 and n. 2) who drew up a table of suras with references to criticism of the Koran. Anonymous notes in French and Latin (“ab hinc 1681, 80 years” and another in the same hand as that of the mss. Bibliothèque Nationale Arabe 140, f° 4 and Suppl. Persan 98) 1 (1. Perhaps we should conclude from the fact that these manuscripts belong to the Jacobins library that our ms. Arabe 453 has the same provenance.).
