See Mağallat al-Mağma al-ʿilmī al-ʿirāqī, 4, p. 280, See the typewritten notices of Georges Vajda for the Arabic manuscripts 3185 to 3629. We know from Hadji Khalfa (t. II, p. 286 and t. VI, p. 132, 477), that this character, who died in 767 AH (1365-1366 AD), was the son of Badr al-Dîn Moḥammad, that he bore the ethnic names of Al-Ḥamawî (born in Ḥamâh) and Al-Dimaschqî, (inhabitant of Damascus) and that he was a Shaféite doctor. Al-Maqqarî, in his great work on Spain, cites this dictionary (t. I, p. ٩١٠) under the title نزهة الالبّاء “Delights of intelligent men”. The notices usually consist of a few verses from the poet followed by a commentary. The present ms. contains the letters ح to س. The writing is so cursive that unless you know the subject, it is difficult to decipher. Diacritical points are almost always omitted. Ms. dated 756 A.H. (1355 A.D.).
