The author is generally known as Abou ʿAlî al-Qâlî. He wrote in Spain under the administration of Al-Manṣoûr ibn abî ʿAmr and died in Cordoba in the year 356 AH (967 AD). We only have here the first twelve leaves of the 104th part, the beginning of the 81st part, and, on the front of the last leaf, the end of the 87th part and a few lines from the following part. Extraordinarily, the back of this sheet remained blank. M. Jaouhari proposes a dating from the end of the 10th century to the beginning of the 11th century. after identification of the owner who left a mark on f. 13: Ibrāhīm ibn Humām ibn Aḥmad (see cited article).

It is the great compilation that Ibn Khallikân and Hadji Khalfa designate by the title of البارع فى غريب الحديث “The excellent treatise on the little-used terms which are encountered in the traditions”. The author is generally known as Abou ʿAlî al-Qâlî. He wrote in Spain under the administration of Al-Manṣoûr ibn abî ʿAmr and died in Cordoba in the year 356 AH (967 AD).
