This manuscript has neither a colophon nor a date indication that would allow it to be dated. This work contains an extract from the Koran, chapter V (al-Mâ'ida or the Table), verse 82 to chapter VI (al-An'âm or the Beasts), verse 165. It was to be used for daily recitation. The verses are not numbered. A mention of Waqf for the benefit of a mosque in the name of Sidi Ali ibn Shawisha was copied on the last leaf. This work comes from the mosque of Sfax (Tunisia) as indicated by several inscriptions and stamps: handwritten inscription on the back of the first flyleaf: "Souvenir of Sfax / July 16, 1881 / Taken in the mosque of Sfax / after the capture of the upper city / (from the Arab city) / Antoine Touzet / Bte rifleman-marin / on board the / battleship La Surveillante", stamped "....endité conced... / Sfax" which appears in several places, handwritten inscription on the front of the last guard sheet: "Capture of Sfax after 16 hours of bombardment by the companies of the riflemen of the squadrons united. Souvenir of the mosque". Decorated leather binding (frames on the two covers, mandorla in their center)
