The introduction, in which the author explains at great length the meaning of the terms schaïkh al-Islâm, moḥaddith and ḥâfiẓ, is followed by ten chapters: 1° on the genealogy and birth of Ibn Ḥadjar. (We read, fol. 14 v°, line 6, that this name must be pronounced with a fatḥa on the ḥâ, as well as on the djim); 2° history of his youth and his first studies; 3° on the masters from whom he received lessons; 4° on his teaching; 5° on his works; 6° on his compositions in prose and verse; 7° on his character; 8° list of his students; 9° on his last illness and his death; 10° on the elegies composed on the occasion of his death. Ms. executed in 871 AH (1466 A.D.), during the author's lifetime. Diacritical points are often missing.
