The author says in his preface that reading this famous poem prompted him to comment on it; he speaks at some length about its composition and its subject, detailing at the end of his introduction the ten parts into which its author divided it; the text of the Borda is written in red ink. This commentary, according to his subscription, was completed during the night of Saturday, sixth day of the month of Safar in the year 1021 AH (April 8, 1612); Haği Khalifa says, on the contrary, in his Bibliographic Dictionary, that Lâli first composed a commentary on the Borda in Arabic, then the present exegetical work in Turkish, and that he finished it in 1001 AH (1592)..
