Cat. of Slane: فتوح مصر و أخبارها “Conquest of Egypt and history of this country”, by ʿAbd al-Raḥmân ibn ʿAbd Allah ibn ʿAbd al-Ḥakam ibn Aʿyan, from the tribe of Quraish, traditionist and historian, died in 257 AH (870-871 AD). This copy contains the text as it was transmitted to students by Abou ʾl-Qâsim ʿAlî ibn al-Ḥasan ibn Khalaf al-Djauharî al-Azdî. (See the article published by M. de Slane in the Asian Journal of 1844.) Ms. dated the year 585 AH (1190 A.D.). Audition certificates dated: 516 h. / 1123 (f. 194v); 887h. / 1482 (f. 194); mentions in the margins of the sessions he attended (13v, 25v, 35v, ...) (cf. G. Vajda, Reading certificates, p. 28-29). Reading marks in the name of Muḥammad ʿAbd Allāh ibn Umar ibn ʿUṯmān al-[Qayrawānī] (f. 194). Marks of possession partly covered on the frontispiece; on one of them, we can read al-Mālikī Taqī al-Dīn, on the other Muḥammad al-Marawī; a third appears to have been made in Cairo and seems to be close to an inscription on f. 194. Stamp (f. 194). Stamp with the figure of Vansleb (frontispiece, f. 194). Notices by d'Herbelot and Langlès. Brown calfskin binding, red shagreen spine with the number of Louis XVIII.
