Turkish Nestalik, copied in gold frames, dated the eighth day of the month of Moharrem in the year 1148 AH (May 31, 1735). is also cited as being that of the reigning sovereign, on folio 69 verso; he bears no title; its author declares that he wrote an abridgement of the already existing books (folio 3 recto), and that he divided it into seventy chapters, the details of which are given in folios 4-5; the forty-third deals with the Seljuks, and the forty-fourth, with the Osmanlis, from the origins of the dynasty until the end of the reign of Sultan Selim II (d. 982 AH = 1574), the order of this division not being followed in the body of the volume; it is also different from that of the نخبة التاريخ و الاخبار, history of the Muslim world, from Mohammed to 1028 AH (1619), of which there are two editions, one dedicated to ʿOsman II (1027-1031 AH = 1618-1622), the other, to his successor Mourad IV (1032-1049 = 1623-1640), by Mohammed ibn Mohammed el-Edirnevi, the Nokhbet el-tevarikh being only a simple reworking of the chronicle of Ǧennabi, as it is found in the present copy. Luxury manuscript, decorated with an illuminated sarloh.. Schefer.. Turkish binding, in stamped and gilded brown leather.
