RISM, BX, p. 229, no. 153. Ed. Abū al-Faḍl al-Abšahī, Cairo, 1952. Neskhi from the 17th and 18th centuries. Copy in four volumes; the fourth volume includes two other treatises: the first (folio 53 recto) is a makâma, entitled Nouthk al-sit bil-dorar wal-yawakit, by the famous Maronite Ahmad Faris, who converted to Islamism; this pamphlet was copied from the original manuscript; the second work, the Kitab al-kawakib al-mouziyya fi djamʿ al-nawadir al-bahiyya (folio 77 verso), is a collection of extracts from several works, mainly historical and anecdotal, which was formed by Yohanna ibn Yousouf Varsi al-Fransisi, who had copied, for his personal use, the Mostathraf and the Nouthk al-sit. The gaps in the first three volumes were filled by the Frenchman Yohanna ibn Yousouf Varsi, who wrote the fourth volume in its entirety, in 1264 AH / 1847-1848.
