Restoration completed on 04/07/2021 file BnF-ADM-2020-053936-01. Restoration of the binding: placing a piece of linen priming cloth on the missing part of the spine at the top, upper jaw side; recovery of the edge frame at the head, upper jaw side with a piece of skin core and a pink silk thread; repeat of the herringbone embroidery in this area with beige and green silk threads patinated with watercolor; restoration of cardboard corners with cotton linters; restoration of the cover at the corners and crowns with tan calfskin, stahl stain and watercolor; restoration of the leather hinges with smooth red goatskin grain. The upper hinge was completely lifted and the old glue scraped off to try to regain some flexibility when opening the dish. Mechanical cleaning of old leather with a stick then Brecknell soap to remove whitish traces and old wax deposits. Leather care with 213 and Renaissance waxes. Other materials used: starch glue, klucel G ethanol.
