The manuscript is incomplete from its first leaf, with which the title of this novel and the name of its author have disappeared; the title of Mirʾat el-kaïnât, which is read on one of the preliminary leaves of the book, with an estimate of 800 (piastres), presents no authenticity, and it is to be presumed that this collection of tales was entitled سلم نامه, like the Persian poem of Khaǧou Kirmani, of which it seems a rifacimento, its unknown author invoking it, in the form حكيم قولنجه, the authority of a source which it does not otherwise determine. Sam is commonly called Sam-i souvar “Sam the knight”. The copy of the manuscript has not been completed.. Coislin.. Calfskin binding, with the figure of Napoleon I.
