The Hesht behisht was composed in imitation of the Beharistan of Ğami, the Tezkere of Dauletshah, the Meǧalis el-nefaïs of Mir ʿAli Shir Nevaï; its author completed it in 945 (1538-1539) [folio 102 recto], and he divided it into eight chapters; the first, which is insignificant, deals with the princes of Antiquity who cultivated poetry, Ǧemshid, Alexander the Great; it mainly serves Sehi as a pretext to address hyperbolic praise to Soleiman I; the second is dedicated to the rulers of the Osman dynasty who cultivated poetry.
