This booklet begins (folio 7 recto) with a summary of the Iranian legend since Housheng; then comes that of the Sassanids (folio 12 verso), in an even more summary form; that of Mohammed and the caliphs (folio 16 recto), up to Mostaʿsim billah, the last vicar of the Prophet, who was put to death by Houlagou; then comes a chapter, which is given as the third of the work (folio 26 recto), in which there is a fanciful story of the Caliph Maʾmoun; then a chapter given as the fourth (folio 57 recto), which sets out a romantic history of the caliph. Umayyad Valid II, son of Yazid; after which comes a chapter, which would be the fifth (folio 73 verso), in which it is spoken of the extraordinary adventures which befell the Sassanid king Shapour, son of Hormouz, at the court of the Greek emperor, which form a large part of this collection of legends. We read, inside one of the covers of the binding, the fanciful title of تحفة المرتاض في التاريخ, with the gloss that it is a history of kings, containing admirable anecdotes and very beautiful teachings. Luxury manuscript, decorated with a sarloh, illuminated in blue and gold. Turkish binding, in stamped and gilded brown leather.
