This Sehi divan is preceded by an introduction, in prose and verse, in which, after the ritual eulogies to Allah and the Prophet, Sehi gives the highest praise of his master, Neǧati (folio 3 verso), and of his protector, the kazi-ʿasker Mohyi ed-Din Čelebi Efendi el-Fenari (folio 4 verso). It begins with a few kaside (folio 5 verso), dedicated to ʿAli, to Sufi characters, named Ak-Yazili Baba and Haği Dédé; it continues (folio 10 verso) with another series of kasids addressed to dignitaries of the temporal order, in a very skilful imitation of Persian forms, Sultan Soleiman el-Kanouni, vizier Kasim Pasha, grand vizier Ibrahim Pasha, Sultan Bayezid, son of Sultan Soleiman, Ahmed Pasha, defterdar Iskender Čelebi, Moustafa Čelebi Taukiʿi, Loutfi Pasha, Daoud Beg, son-in-law of Sultan Bayezid II, Ferhad Pasha, the famous Ottoman admiral Piri Pasha, Sultan Selim I; the ghazels start on folio 60 verso; the quatrains, followed by the minor pieces, on folio 142 verso. Luxury manuscript, decorated with four illuminated sarlohs in the Persian style.. Renaudot.. Turkish binding, in stamped and gilded yellow leather, decorated, in imitation of the Persian technique, with cutouts in the interior of its covers.
