F. Déroche, Catalog of Arab manuscripts. 2nd part. Muslim manuscripts. Volume 1, 2: The Manuscripts of the Koran: from the Maghreb to Insulindia. Paris, Bibliothèque nationale, 1983, n° 537., See the typewritten notices of Georges Vajda and Solange Ory for the Arabic manuscripts 2 to 40, 42, 50 to 67, 202, 288 to 299, 323 to 383, 385 to 470.. F. Déroche, Catalog of Arab manuscripts. 2nd part. Muslim manuscripts. Volume 1, 2: The Manuscripts of the Koran: from the Maghreb to Insulindia. Pl. XXIX, A Pl. XXIX, B Text with vocalization and orthoepic signs. Gold dots separate the verses. Concentric blue and gold circles with floral decoration mark the groups of five verses. At the head of each surah are its title and the number of its verses in white ṯuluṯ characters on a gold background, inside a banner. In ff° 1 v° and 2 r°, the text of the S. I is arranged inside a frame defined on the three exterior sides of each page by a band of golden festoons - each has a blue central element - with arabesque decoration. The center of this decoration, defined by a blue line, is divided into compartments by two figures traced by a white line and which evoke the decoration of the contreplat (see below): the central quadrilateral bears the text, on a gold background, and the exterior compartments are occupied by arabesques. In f° 2 v°, the title and number of verses of S. II are indicated in a pediment, in white ṯuluṯ characters on a gold background. The rest of the text is placed inside a linear blue and gold frame. The indications of sağda and the divisions in ğuz ʾ and ḥizb are given in the margin in gold characters. Tinted oriental paper. 434 fol. 114 × 73mm. 12 lines per page (except in ff° 1 v° and 2 r°: 5 l.). Writing surface: 51 × 28 mm. Black ink. Oriental binding whose flap has disappeared, restored in Europe in the 17th century. On both covers, large gilded plaque (the base element measures 47 × 52 mm; arabesque motif whose central part evokes OSd, fig. 1) framed with chained hatched Ss, stamped then gilded, between two gilded fillets. The contreplats are covered with cut leather, on a blue paper background, using the sūẖt technique: an arabesque decoration partitioned by golden fillets is framed by golden S fillets (see the organization of the decoration of ff° 1 v° and 2 r°).. Iran. Comes from Colbert's library (we read a date: "August 6" which could mean that this volume was part of Cl. Hardy's library which was integrated into that of Colbert in August 1678).
