The Arabs generally designate the first of these treatises by a Syriac title, Mîamîr, which means "the speeches"; in the second they retain the Greek title, Κατὰ γένη. But the author of this translation renders κατὰ τόπος as بحسب المواضع. The present ms. was examined and annotated by the late Dr. Daremberg and by Mr. Renan. The beginning, the end and several notebooks in the middle are missing. A certain number of pages are mutilated, others transposed and reversed; Maghreb-Spanish writing.
