Famous men of Provence (Abbé Abeille, Michel Adanson (with 1 printed f.), Adhemar de Monteil, Jean-François Allard (1785-1839), Boyer d'Argens, Laurent d'Arvieux, Paul Barras, Abbé Barthelemy, François Barthelemy, Blacas d'Aulps, Brueys) f. 10-88: Dreams and realities, by A. J. I. D. de Varens. Collection composed of 131 pieces, with table at the end. Among these pieces we will highlight the following numbers: VI, dedicated to Mgr P. Coeur, bishop of Troyes; XXI, “Farewell of the 1st Hunter Regiment to General Armand de Hoüe”; XXXIV, dated Arles on September 27, 1857 and dedicated to Reboul de Nismes (this poem was, according to a note by Bauquier, published in Le Publicateur); XXXVIII, "Fragments of a proverb. A house of straw where we laugh is better than a palace where we cry"; XLIII, dedicated to Mr. Ozanneaux; XLVI, dedicated to the Empress; XLVIII, dedicated to Secourjeon, chief doctor of the 1st corps of the Crimean army; LX, “The Oases” with exergue in Arabic; LXVII, “Construction of the temple of Jerusalem by Solomon, according to the Muslims”; LXXIV, “To the dead of the African army”, dated October 1857; CXXXI, “Notice on the Muslim religion”. f. 89: Arabic and Turkish alphabet f. 90: Origin of the word Africa f. 90v-91: First successors of Mohhammed f. 92: “The departure of the missionary”. Biyografi veya Tarihçe
L'auteur qui nous livre son nom développé au f. 73 et son prénom au f. 101 est donc J. Adolphe Desforges de Vassens. On voit par l'Avant-propos qu'il était militaire. Nous ignorons le lien de famille qui l'unit au chansonnier Charles Desforges de Vassens (1820-1871). Nous pouvons en revanche l'identifier avec le comte Desforges de Vassens, qui comparaît devant le tribunal correctionnel de Nîmes pour vagabondage et escroquerie ( Le Courrier du Gard , du 11 septembre 1862). En effet le poème cité dans l'article du Courrier du Gard &("Quinze août") se retrouve au n° VI de notre Recueil. L'article du journal nous apprend également qu'Adolphe Desforges de Vassens était né à Nîmes en 1818.

Décrit les documents entrés dans le fonds des manuscrits de la bibliothèque depuis l'édition du Catalogue général des manuscrits des bibliothèques publiques de France en 1885. Encodage effectué selon la DTD EAD-2002 par Adolphe Rossille et le Service du Patrimoine de la Bibliothèque municipale de Nîmes sous la direction de Didier Travier. Les manuscrits 790 (Fonds Mazel), 801 (Fonds Alexandre), 818 et 1118 (Fonds Liotard), 828 (Fonds Peyre), 870 (Fonds Coutaud), 1037 (Fonds Simon), 1072 (Fonds Dupuy), 1081 (Fonds Marc Bernard), 1120 (Fonds Fraigneau), 1121-1123 (Fonds Reinach) et 1128 (Fonds Jazz70) ont été extraits de la collection et traités dans des inventaires séparés.
