This translation of el-Vakidi's novel, which narrates the fanciful story of the conquest of Syria under the caliphate of Omar, was executed in 796, at the time when Tamerlane invaded the empire of the Mamluks; it is dedicated to an officer of this militia, Melik Ǧalban, who was governor of Aleppo, in the name of Sultan el-Melik el-Zahir Saïf ed-Din Barkouk (folio 178 recto); it is divided into two volumes; the language is vulgar and the writing curious; the author has deleted the name of Vakidi, to make people believe that he is the author of this indigestible compilation..
