Notice stuck on the lower cover: “Arabic book, of prayers, religious sentences, exorcisms to cast out the devil, chapters of the Koran, among others the one which begins the volume and which is the first chapter of this religious code of the Mohammedans. We also find in this volume the different names of God arranged in the form of a table; the portrait or description of Mohammed contained in circular cartridges. The titles of the different prayers are not in Arabic, they are in Turkish or Persian. » Quran (fragment): from sura 24, al-Nūr (The Light) to sura 114, al-Nās (The People), which ends on fol. 51r. Followed by prayers in Ottoman Turkish and hadiths in Arabic. Mention of a date on fol. 83v: 1224h/1809. Name of the copyist: Mullā Yūsuf ibn Muḥammad ʿAlī Būdrum (?) ḥālan sākin sulṭān ġarb ğazāʾir bi-Ibn (?) Aḥmad bak (?). Other date: May 28, 1884, on fol. 1 verso.. Former owner: M. Lainé Old gold n° 15.. Illuminations at the beginning of the text (al-Fātiḥaẗ) on two leaves. Brown binding with flap and gold decorations (central element in the shape of a mandorla).
