Nestalik with two hands; the Kanoun was copied by a certain Ismaʿil Efendi ibn Ahmed, in Adrianople, in the month of Moharrem in the year 1084 AH (April 18-May 17, 1673); the Melǧaʾ el-kouzat bears the date of the first decade of the month of Moharrem in the year 1069 AH (beginning of the month of October 1658). Abous-Soʿoud Mohammed ibn Mohammed el-ʿImadi (d. 982 AH = 1574), who fulfilled the functions of his office from 952 to 982 AH (1545-1574), during the reigns of Suleiman I and his son Selim II. The Kanoun name-i ǧedid relates to the status of the various forms of land possession, to fiefs, to appanages; it was compiled, after the accession of Selim II, by the defterdar Mohammed Čelebi; it begins with an order from Soleyman I concerning the liberties granted to the vilayet of Bude; there we find fetvas and extracts from kanouns of various authors, Abous-Soʿoud, Ahmed ibn Kemal Pasha, Pir Mohammed, Mohammed Behaï, Yahya Efendi, the sentences of these two muftis having been introduced into the Kanoun name-i ǧedid at a date later than that on which it was written, from the Kanoun name of Ǧelalzade, etc. ; another copy is under number 1311; the copy of this collection is preceded by an analytical table, which refers to the eastern pagination of the manuscript; the ملجاء القضاة عند تعارض البيّنات, treated in Arabic, by Abou Mohammed Ghanim ibn Mohammed el-Baghdadi (d. around 1030 AH = 1621), which this author wrote to help his colleagues, the kadis, to resolve the difficulties that present themselves to their minds in the case of contradiction of testimonies, in questions of civil and criminal law; this treatise is divided into sections and ends with a conclusion; a table of contents, with the reference to the eastern pagination of this pamphlet, can be read on its first leaf (folio 92 recto)..
