Comes from the Séguier-Coislin library, bequeathed to the Abbey of Saint-Germain-des-Prés. - Reading marks of Muḥammad al-Damīrī, dated 19 rabīʿ I 796/22 January 1394; of Muḥammad al-Ḥalabī, known as al-Raīd; by Ibn Abī al-Luṭf al-Maqdisī dated Cairo, ḏū l-qaʿda 963/October-November 1556 (1584, f. 218v); ʿAlī al-Kutubī al-Ḥanafī; Muḥammad ibn Muḥammad al-Mālikī; Muḥammad ibn Muḥammad al-Fihrī; other marks erased (1585, f. 1). - Frontispiece (1585, f. 1). The title and author appear in a banner measuring 115 x 50 mm accompanied by a marginal sticker. In a polylobed medallion, we can read that the volume was intended for the library of al-Malik Nāṣir Abū l-Saʿādāt Faraǧ (801-815 h/1399-1412, cf. Encyclopedia of Islam. New ed. Leiden, Paris, 1954-, II p. 800). The copyist having died in 765 h/1363-1364, the copy was not originally intended for this library. The headband and the medallion are surrounded by blue and gold threads. Colophon (1584, f. 218v): He wrote it down for himself and for whomever God willed after him, poor at the mercy of his Lord, Muhammad bin Ali bin Al-Hasan bin Hamza Al-Husseini, may God forgive him. Exp. Ajouté (1585, f. 236-237): Our Sheikh Al-Dhahabi, may God have mercy on him, said: “I have finished what I wanted to mention from the major events and the most prominent people, including scholars, narrators, and notables. I ask God, who has been gracious in His grace to His servants, to forgive me for my transgression, to have mercy on my estrangement, and to give me my proof on the day of my need.” Copy by Muḥammad ibn ʿAlī ibn al-Ḥasan ibn Ḥamza al-Ḥusaynī [al-Dimaqī] and discovered the 1st of February 756/15 1355 (Ibn Qāḍī uhba, Ṭabaqāt al-āfiʿiyya, III p. 174) (1584, f. 218v).
