This set contains the fragments, mostly papyri and mummy cartonnages, donated by Seymour de Ricci in 1932 and mentioned in the Coptic manuscript 166 which have not currently been integrated into the Coptic, Arabic and Greek collections. Other Seymour de Ricci papyri already marked, in writing (sometimes with bilingual or Coptic/Greek confusions): Arabic Arabic 7075 from the 1943 legacy and given to the Department in 1980 Arabic 7076 mixed with fragments in paper, parchment..., from the 1943 legacy and given to the Department in 1980 Arabic 7191-7203 all on parchment, ex lots 16, 21 and 24 “pieces brought back from a mission in Egypt in 1909, carried out at the expense of the Duke of Loubat” (ms. In 2019, they are packaged in 11 boxes in disparate ways (under glass, in pouches, in folders... accompanied by indications that may shed light on their provenance, and sometimes transcriptions). A systematic processing of provisional quotation in the form SdR + box number + shirt number + document number with photograph and rapid description of the fragments on xls was undertaken from 2023 with the participation of Alix Frauchiger (2023), Léa Henrich (2023), Doris Tolan (2024), Matthys Seiller (2024-2025), Jamal Larzouli (2024-2025) and Dylan Brimbeuf (2025) archived on file BnF-ADM-2023-048004-01. The general descriptions (history of packaging, divisions, natures and languages of the fragments at box level) come from the work of A. Frauchiger and updates after repackaging. A review of the archives on the lots and the annotations relating to acquisitions and provenance by Seymour de Ricci has been carried out and is in the process of being published by Florent Jacques (Institut de papyrologie). an initial research before undertaking fragments meetings and restoration by professionals; in 2025 around twenty coasters were made (from unfolding to restoration and framing) as part of a training workshop for restorers from the National Archives, under the direction of Eve Menei and Solène Girard.
