This copy was written for the library of an Egyptian official, named Faradj, who had been grand chamberlain of the Mamluk sultan Al-Malik al-Aschraf Inâl, whose father, Ized Beg (بردبك), had been emir of a thousand, that is to say colonel of one of the twenty-four cavalry regiments which made up the ḥalqa or imperial guard. Ms. dated 885 A.H. (1481 A.D.).

This copy was written for the library of an Egyptian official, named Faradj, who had been grand chamberlain of the Mamluk sultan Al-Malik al-Aschraf Inâl, whose father, Ized Beg (بردبك), had been emir of a thousand, that is to say colonel of one of the twenty-four cavalry regiments which made up the ḥalqa or imperial guard.
