Notes
A good, complete, modern copy, identical to the original from which it was copied. Its beginning is decorated with a precious plaque in the style of the beginning plates of the surahs of the Holy Qur’an. It is surmounted by a border decorated with multi-colored floral decorations on a gold ground, both inside tables colored in red ink decorated with white dots. Half of it is written in dark tan black ink, and the chapters of the paragraphs, the abbreviations of the graduations, the titles of the chapters, and so on are written in red ink inside double tables and colored in gold ink, except for folios 5b and 5. 6a The copyist drew like golden circles between the Qur’anic sentences and verses contained in the text, on a European-made, white, satin mat, in which the lines and the commercial watermark appear. The footnotes of the copy are laden with many sayings, explanations, and quotations, especially from the commentaries of Abd al-Nasir Khawaja Zadeh [see: Brockelmann Appendix 2/655] in fine Nasta’liq script, and they contain traces of moisture, perhaps from rain falling on them, or traces of tears that affected the clarity of the text in several places. Especially in papers 191b-195b, for example.
