Notes
A modern copy copied from another copy dated in the year 1039 AH, which is different from the copy of the Egyptian House of Books dated in the year 1315 AH, which contains 82 pages [number: 8554H]. The author began with the translation of King Al-Ashraf Qaitbay, then mentioned the histories of the kings of Egypt before him with a brief narrative that began first with Sultan Saladin Yusuf bin Ayyub and graduated until he reached Qaitbay and concluded his book with invocations and hadiths. Brockelmann mentioned copies of it in Paris, Broadelian-Oxford, the British Museum, and Cairo, and a summary of it in Vienna, and attributed it all to an unknown author who compiled the book in the year 877 AH. The text in it was written in black, tangy, watery ink in general, and the copyist used pale red ink to write the heads of the paragraphs and some of the points of separation between the sentences in the shape of stars and the beginnings of events in the months and years, such as: ((And in the month of Rabi’ al-Awwal in the year eight hundred and eight)) on Kaghed. Egyptian made made of wood pulp and raw cotton, free from any streaks or watermark. Benefit: Al-Sakhawi mentioned in the translation of Ali bin Daoud Al-Sayrafi Al-Jawhari, who died in the year 900 AH [as a case 7/89] that he wrote a book on the biography of Al-Ashraf Qaitbay, and it appears that his style in his other book: The Journey of Souls and Bodies in the History of Time does not differ greatly from the style of the author of the history of King Al-Ashraf Qaitbay. Perhaps Al-Jawhari is this author of history, [See: Hasan Habashi’s introduction to the book “Nazhat Al-Nufos” (Dar Al-Kutub Press, 1970) A. 8/1], and Al-Sakhawi himself has the book Al-Durra Al-Mudhi’ fi Al-Ma’athir Al-Ashrafieh, and there is a copy of it in Paris with the number: 1615, which is in the history of Qaytbay.
Metin Başı (İncipit)
