Notes A fragment of a Mamluk Qur’an. The names of the surahs were written in white ink inside a gilded rectangle, decorated with floral designs. Suns were repeated on the margins, and their dividers were circular in gilded form. What had been eroded from its edges was restored in an imperfect manner.
