Notes
An important and precious copy. The title leaf is decorated with colorful and gilded artistic decoration. It has several stamped attributions. The first of these is an index of the chapters of the book, which was placed later than the copy. The last of them is a sama’ on Sheikh Abdullah bin Muhammad bin Abi Bakr Khalil Al-Makki, with his readings from his sheikh, Ali bin Ibrahim, known as Ibn Al-Attar, on his listening to him on his work, with the reading of Zain al-Din Abi Bakr bin Yusuf al-Nasa’i, and the author of the samma’s, Muhammad bin Muhammad bin Abi Bakr Abdul Aziz al-Maqdisi. And his parents are Abu Hurairah Abd al-Rahman, and Sitt al-Arab is Fatima, who was four years old. Parts of it were heard by Muhammad Muhammad al-Shatnufi, Muhammad bin Abdullah bin Dhahirah al-Qurashi, and Muhammad bin Omar al-Sharabi. The hearing was from this corresponding copy on the basis of the aforementioned Ibn al-Attar, and the last session of hearing was on Thursday, the ninth of Sha`ban of the year seven hundred and ninety-four, in the emptiness of the mosque above the roof of the Al-Hakim Mosque in Cairo. This copy was also read by Fathallah bin Abd al-Rahim al-Manfaluti, known as Ibn al-Farjuti, was narrated by his sheikh, Uthman bin Muhammad bin Uthman bin Nasser al-Da`i al-Shafi’i, and he was given permission to narrate from him, in several gatherings, the last of which was on the ninth of Muharram 903 AH. In some gatherings, Sheikh Abdul Rahman al-Khatib, Sheikh Muhammad bin Ali bin Musa al-Buhairi, and Sheikh Ahmed bin Muhammad al-Attar heard from him. Humidity and increased acid affected the ink, so the writing areas in some parts were burned. Black ink was used for writing, and its binding was made of cardboard that does not date back to the period of writing.
