Notes
An ancient, precious copy of epics and prophecies, in which the narratives of the Epic of Daniel were mixed with the hadiths of the epics. It was compared to the original from which it was copied and to other copies, copied by Abd al-Rahman bin Muhammad al-Bistami, who died in the year 858 AH, from a copy by its author, who was a famous author who wrote extensively on the secrets of letters and their nature, as he was fond of classification in this art (Brockelmann 2/232, and its appendix 2/323). The text was written in dark, viscous black ink, which turned dark brown due to atmospheric humidity and oxidation. The copyist used red ink to write paragraph headings and many phrases during the text, in addition to dividing points between sentences, warning lines, and so on, on a brown, Levantine-made Levantine cursive. It was made from cotton and waste flax stems, and is free of any parallel lines or any watermark. The copy includes geometric drawings and talismanic shapes. Especially between folios 72a-81a. The text on folios 1b-2a was written inside double tables and colored with black ink. The text on folios 2b-39b was written inside double tables and colored with red. After that, the tables disappeared, their footnotes heavy with corrections to interviews, explanations of the text, and solving symbols by calculating sentences in different fonts. The scribe left white space here and there for the illuminator for the purpose of filling them with pictures. He did not do so for one reason or another. This copy belonged to Ahmed Khairy, may God have mercy on him and us.
