Notes A modern, truncated copy with many leaves missing from the end, as well as from various places, so the name of the copyist, if present, and the date of copying were lost, and the footnotes of many of the leaves were cut out for use - apparently - in writing, so the copy was distorted, and one of the possessors tried to restore these cuts in a few places. The footnotes of the remaining copy are heavy with quotes and explanations from Sharh al-Ajhouri and al-Qalyubi, from the book al-Nihayah fi Ghareeb al-Hadith, from Sharh al-Hamziyyah by Ibn Hajar, from al-Mawahib al-Ludaniyya by al-Qastalani, and others. There are two endowments on the front of the copy, the first of which is: Sheikh Mustafa Effendi Diyarbakri gave the endowment to himself, then to his children, then to his family of students. The second: Hajj Muhammad Raghib bin Muhammad Masoud Effendi supported the students of knowledge in the Raghibiya School in the city of Amed. The copybooks are disassembled and their pages are torn apart. They need re-binding and maintenance. The text of the Shama'il is written in red ink and the explanations in black ink, on an Italian-made embossed paper that shows parallel lines and the distinctive commercial watermark (three crescents).
