Notes
A good copy. The original is what contained the Qur’anic text. As for its margins, and the decoration and embellishment they contain, they were added at a later time, perhaps in the thirteenth century. It seems that what called for this was fear for the copy from being damaged, or to remove any corrosion or the like that might have affected its edges. The names of the surahs were written on a gilded ground, inside a rectangle decorated with colorful decorations, and the preamble in the added margins was decorated with gilded floral and geometric decorations. It is colorful and repeated at Surat Al-Isra, and at the end of the Qur’an.
