The manuscript is thirty pamphlets, the first page of which includes a text written by the scribe, copied and owned by the poor Mahmoud Al-Alaf Al-Husseini Al-Hanafi Al-Iskandari, who pardoned him, the seal of the Ahmed Khairy Library, the date of receipt in the year 1362 AH, the general number 1224 and the jurisprudence number 90. Ahmed Khairy reviewed his scholarly chain of transmission to the compiler: On the authority of my teacher, the scholar Muhammad Zahid bin Al-Hasan Al-Kawthari, may God Almighty prolong the survival of his father and sheikh Al-Hasan Al-Kawthari. May God continue to bless him, on the authority of his father and sheikh, Al-Hasan Al-Hilmi bin Ali Al-Ridha bin Khudhu Najm Al-Din Al-Kawthari, who died on Wednesday 12 AH of Rabi’ Al-Akhir in the year 1345, at the age of a hundred years, on the authority of Ahmad Diya Al-Din Al-Kamashkhanwi, who died in the year 1311 AH, on the authority of Sayyid Ahmad bin Sulaiman Al-Arwadi, who died in the year 1275, on the authority of Muhammad Amin bin Omar Abidin, the author of Radd Al-Muhtar, who died in the year 1252, on the authority of the scholar Al-Muhaddith. The jurist Muhammad Hibatullah al-Taji al-Baali, born in the year 1151 and died in Istanbul in the year 1224, is the author of this book, may God Almighty be pleased with them all, and it has benefited me with their knowledge, righteousness, and light derived from the presence of the Master of the Ancients and the Lasts, may God Almighty bless him and his family and companions until the Day of Judgment on the night of Thursday, the 6th of Dhul-Qi’dah, in the year 1362. Ahmed Khairi added three leaves to the copy preceding it, including the title. Introducing the copy and its author, he mentioned in it that he bought four volumes of this work, namely the first half of the first part, the first part of the second part, and the third part in two volumes. He bought them from Mahmoud Effendi al-Kutbi in Ramadan in the year 1362 AH for the sum of three pounds. In Dhul-Qa’dah of the same year, he bought the remaining two parts for the sum of two pounds. He wrote the text in black, glossy tan ink overall, while the titles in red ink. He wrote the text on European-style paper with parallel lines and watermarks. Several of them include a shield with a crescent inside and its inner string in the shape of a human face, and the other is a plant vase, in addition to inscriptions in which we read the name Andrea. The fourth and fifth pages include footnotes containing translations of many names mentioned in the copy, p. 65 of the text of the manuscript, a translation of the book Al-Ashbah wal-Naza’ir by Ibn Najim Al-Din. The copy includes corrections written by Ahmed Khairy and some others in a different, less good pen. The definitions of the characters mentioned in the text are scattered in its footnotes, written by Ahmed Khairy, who sometimes signs his name and sometimes with the title of professor.
