Notes
A valuable authorization in Al-Ramli’s own handwriting authorizes Al-Qabbani with books that he read to him by the right of reading them to his father, who died in the year 957 AH. Which was read to Zakaria Al-Ansari, who died in the year 926 AH. And Al-Burhan bin Abi Sharif Al-Maqdisi Al-Misri Al-Shafi’i, who died in the year 923 AH. Ibn Qadi Ajloun, who died in 928 AH. Ahmed Khairy, who owns the copy, mentioned Al-Shams Al-Ramli’s translation, his father’s translation, and a summary of the translation by Zakaria Al-Ansari, Al-Burhan bin Abi Sharif, Ibn Qadi Ajloun, and his brother Najm Al-Din Muhammad bin Abdullah bin Abdul Rahman Al-Zar’i, in addition to Al-Nawawi’s translation, and he quoted Al-Ramli’s authorization itself in paper 4B. He also mentioned that he bought it from the late Al-Khanji in the year 1358, and it remained with him in an unknown location until he found it in the year 1361. He took it to the volume in Alexandria and worked on writing biographies in the year 1362. He wrote all of that in his elegant, precise, beautiful handwriting, whether in the original text or in its restrictions and useful benefits in the footnotes. He wrote the text of Al-Ramli’s authorization in dark brown ink only, on a white European-made mug in which the parallel lines and the trademark watermark appear. The distinctive one (two triangles hanging on either side of a column inside a circle). As for Ziyadat Ahmad Khairy, may God have mercy on him and us, he used black and red ink in writing it, as is his custom in everything he wrote and commented on his books, on a brown, Egyptian-made ink devoid of any lines or watermarks. Ahmad Khairy added his chain of transmission to the author of al-Ijaza al-Ramli on the authority of his sheikh, Muhammad Zahid al-Kawthari, and he confirmed this on the title page.
