Notes
A precious copy of the Safavid Qur’an, distributed in four volumes, shows traces of wetness and moisture, in addition to fungi that have affected some of the leaves with rot. As for the preamble of the Qur’an, which includes Surat Al-Fatihah in one panel, and the beginning of Surat Al-Baqarah in a second panel, it was decorated with exquisite decorations, containing colorful and gilded geometric and floral shapes, but its colors faded and its splendor was removed over the years. As for the rest of the pages, the first, middle, and last lines were written in Thuluth script in ink. Gold throughout the length of the paper, and the rest of the lines are in naskh script with black ink. The writing is surrounded by gilded tables, along with two columns containing decorative patterns repeated on all pages. As for the shams, they are repeated on each page in two different shapes, and the names of the surahs are written in white ink on a gilded ground and dotted with black, inside a rectangle decorated with colored decorations. The verse dividers are circular in gold surrounded by a blue color and a red dot inside. All parts are bound in brown leather, with a decorated medallion in the middle. With floral decorations by pressing, and its binding is modern and does not date back to the period of writing.
